In 2019, we fought to pass the most inclusive paid family and medical leave law in the country.

Thanks to your hard work and advocacy, Paid Leave Oregon will be open to Oregonians next year. Contributions to fund the program will be collected through a payroll tax starting on January 1, 2023, and benefits will be available beginning on September 3, 2023.

Paid Leave Oregon is a new program that allows workers to have paid time away from work to welcome a new child, to recover from a serious illness, to care for a loved one recovering from a serious illness or to deal with issues related to domestic violence, harassment, sexual assault or stalking.

We will continue to keep you updated on Paid Leave Oregon informational sessions hosted by the Time to Care coalition and community engagement meetings held by the Oregon Employment Department throughout 2022. These meetings will cover topics related to eligibility, the application process, amount of benefits received, how to provide notice to your employer, and more.
