Moving into 2017, I look forward to the year ahead with optimism, but most importantly, resolve. There will be so much at stake in these coming months for all of us in Oregon. I don’t doubt that many of us have spent time asking ourselves the question: What can we do? Where do we go from here?
I am an active Family Forward volunteer and and have been a member for three years. I believe passionately in Family Forward’s work to bring paid sick days, workplace flexibility, and affordable child care to working families. This is what I always longed for as an employee and what I worked hard to bring to the company I now run. Volunteering for Family Forward has been a natural step for me. Working families need what Family Forward is fighting for!
Joining as a member has made me feel a part of a community that takes action for the kind of policies Oregonians truly need to thrive at work and at home, and especially as they move through this new terrain in 2017.
We must build power this year in order to resist and fight for what matters to all of us, and I urge you to join Family Forward as a member this year. With your help, we will raise our voices, make sure are heard in the capitol (and beyond), and protect the changes we have made for Oregonians — and empower other states to do the same.
