After voting to slash health care, food assistance, and other basic needs for families in MAGA Republican’s “Big Ugly Bill,” Rep. Cliff Bentz can’t be bothered to talk to his constituents.

It’s clear that Rep. Bentz cares more about billionaires than the people he represents, the people that voted him into office. Tell him how you feel by signing on to our letter below!
The Honorable Representative Cliff Bentz
14 N. Central Avenue
Suite 112
Medford, OR 97501Dear Representative Bentz,
On behalf of the below signed, we write to express our deep disappointment with your actions. When elected into office, you swore an oath to the people of your district that you would serve them — but your loyalty appears to be elsewhere. Your unwavering support for policies that benefit special interests rather than the people of Oregon has raised significant, poignant concerns.
Your support for the Big Ugly Bill has shown that your priorities do not align with the best interests of Oregonians. This bill will hit working families hard, increasing their costs and making it harder to make ends meet. The cuts to Medicaid and SNAP are direct attacks on women, children, and the early education and care workforce. One in three Oregonians rely on Medicaid, including 57% of children, and nearly 45% of mothers had Medicaid at the time of birth. The Big Ugly Bill could result in nearly 200,000 Oregonians losing access to Medicaid.
Moreover, more than 420,000 Oregonians could lose access to SNAP benefits, despite one in six Oregonians relying on SNAP food benefits. Over 41% of SNAP benefits go to working families, and more than 54% are in families with children. Nationally, 43% of early educator families rely on public safety nets like Medicaid or SNAP.
It’s also misleading to claim that The Big Ugly Bill “delivered on child care.” The included child care tax credits mostly help higher-income families and don’t cover the true costs of child care. These provisions don’t support child care providers either. Giving families a penny while taking away a dollar isn’t progress.
Furthermore, we are deeply concerned about your lack of accountability to your constituents. After voting to slash health care, food assistance, and other basic needs for families, you have refused to hold a single town hall while Congress was in recess. We urge you to stop hiding and face the people you represent. It’s time to listen to our concerns and be transparent about your actions.
Your behavior demonstrates a clear disregard for the voices and concerns of Oregonians. We urge you to center the needs of your constituents, as you swore to do when elected. Unlike trickle-down economics, our economy benefits when we invest in workers and their families.
We, the people of Oregon, are here to hold you accountable for your actions.
Sincerely,
