Today, a number of businesses and immigrant communities across the nation are striking as a way to show the new administration the importance and value that immigrants provide in the U.S. This “Day Without Immigrants” strike comes in response to the recent crackdowns on undocumented residents, the Muslim ban, and the promise to build a wall at the  Mexico-U.S. border.

Immigrant families are a vital part of our communities and our economy. Their work has been an important part of the development and history of this country – and now, more than ever, we need to acknowledge that our country simply would not work without immigrant families and the contributions they make.

The first-generation immigrant members of our staff will not be working today, with the full support of our organization. Those of us who remain in our workplace today can see, up-close-and-personal, what it means to remove vital immigrant workers from our workplaces.

Family Forward supports our immigrant staff, partners, members, and community.  To that end, we will also be making a contribution today to One Oregon, a statewide coalition of  immigration advocacy organizations, in support of their efforts to push back against these cruel and arcane national rollbacks to immigration policy. We encourage you to do the same if you can.
